Developing dependable shine control

Frustrated by shine.
Driven to find a solution.

That frustration is what started ROTHAL LAB. We’re developing a final-step anti-shine treatment with one clear goal: dependable, lasting shine control—whether the shine comes from oil, naturally reflective skin, or moisturizers and sunscreens.

Inspired by the frustration of products that fell short. Our goal is dependable shine control, comfortable wear, and smooth application and touch-ups.

01 / The development priorities

Shine control that earns
your confidence.

Facial shine can come from oil, naturally reflective skin, or the finish left by skincare. We’re exploring a final step designed around that everyday experience.

01

Meaningful shine reduction.

Our priority is a visibly matte result that addresses oily shine and non-oily reflectivity. Oil absorption alone is not enough; meaningful visible reduction and lasting wear are the goals.

02

Reliable everyday wear.

Smooth application over skincare, comfortable wear through everyday facial movement, and touch-ups without clumping, pilling or visible buildup are core development requirements.

03

Personally tested. Carefully assessed.

The founder intends to use and depend on this product himself. His evaluation, independent feedback and agreed technical testing will guide development. A natural-looking finish supports the result, with no chalkiness or noticeable residue.

These are development goals. Final product details and performance will be shared as they are established.

02 / A note from the founder

I’m making the product I kept hoping to find.

Hi, I’m Wade Rosenthal, founder of ROTHAL LAB.

I know how frustrating persistent facial shine can be. Sometimes it comes with oily skin. Other times, skin can look highly reflective even when it doesn’t feel oily. Moisturizers and sunscreens can add another layer of shine, leaving you to manage unwanted shine after caring for your skin.

That frustration is personal for me. I’ve tried products that promised to help but delivered too little shine control, left an uncomfortable or visible finish, or didn’t work well with the rest of my routine. When products I could rely on were discontinued or changed, finding a dependable replacement became another challenge.

I started ROTHAL LAB as a frustrated consumer who decided to pursue a solution. Our priority is meaningful, dependable shine control that addresses both oily shine and non-oily reflectivity, including shine left by skincare. Comfortable wear, smooth application and practical touch-ups are part of that goal.

This is a product I intend to use and depend on myself. That gives me a personal stake in getting it right. Development will take careful evaluation, honest feedback and appropriate testing, and I’m committed to letting those results guide the decisions.

If any of this feels familiar, I’d be glad to hear about your experience—what you’ve tried, what has helped, and what you still wish worked better. Your perspective can help shape what comes next.

Warmly,
Founder of ROTHAL LAB
